Thermostatic Radiator Valves

Thermostatic Radiator Valves are self regulating valves fitted to radiators. The TRV controls room temperature by regulating how much hot water flows to the radiator it's attached to.'

A TRV is made up of two parts, a valve that opens or closes to allow hot water to flow or to stop it, and an actuator that controls the opening of the valve. A typical actuator will be a plastic unit surrounding a wax plug, which expands or contracts as the temperature of the room changes. As the temperature in the room increases the wax expands, pushing down a pin which restricts the flow of hot water through the valve. As the room cools and the wax plug contracts, the pin is gradually released, allowing hot water through the valve and into the radiator.

Installing Thermostatic Radiator Valves

TRV's are an excellent way of conserving energy, as the radiators they are fitted to will only come on when they are required. If you're looking for a way of cutting your heating bill, or you have other practical uses for fitting TRV's, why not call us for a quote?
